Welcome to the 2023 NRL Hunter Season. The 2023 Mason Valley Steel Hunter presented by Abel Company is situated just east of the Gold Rush mountain town of Julian, California, and adjacent to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in San Diego County. The Mason Valley Ranch is 8500 acres of typical Southern California high desert terrain, similar to the habitat of Southern Mule Deer, Coyotes, Rabbits, Squirrels and more. The environment includes low scrub in a very dry climate (field conditions are completely different than last year, as it is now 2 years after the fire). Field Elevation is 2400 ft ASL.

This match will provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy the weather of sunny Southern California while working through rocky terrain of the high desert.

With an estimated 20 hunting simulated stages, the round count will be 80-160, depending on first round impacts vs second round impacts, but bring extra for getting velocity/PF for your tiebreaker, and zero’ing your rifle. The average target distance will be approximately 455 yards, but expect anywhere from approximately <100-1400 yards.

Hunters are expected to hike to all shooting locations that are not accessible to vehicles.

Water will be provided at each stage with bag lunch on Saturday and Taco dinner on Sunday during the awards.

Friday check-in and zero will have a 100 yard zero area however, no extended ranges to proof dope, so please come prepared.

Abel Company will be demoing new light weight Titanium suppressors!
